Caruthers Elementary School Counselor

School counselors focus on three main areas when working with students: Academic, Career, and Social/Personal. They create comprehensive counseling programs tailored to meet the specific needs of each school. The primary goal of a school counselor is to support students in their academic journey, which includes addressing any social and emotional challenges that may hinder their academic success. While school counselors help students navigate obstacles that affect their classroom performance, it's important to note that they are not therapists and do not offer ongoing therapy. In cases where continuous therapy is necessary, counselors collaborate with parents to ensure students receive the support they need.

School Counselor Beliefs

  • Every student can reach their full potential.
  • School counselors serve as advocates for their students.
  • Every student is entitled to equal access to the counselor.
  • Every student deserves respect and unconditional positive regard from the school counselor.

Meet our Guidance Counselor

Welcome to Caruthers K-8 Counseling  website. As your counselor, my goal is to support the academic success of all students. I work with students to assist them with academic, career, personal, social, and emotional concerns. I also work with students and families to support students in any way, ranging from behavior concerns, communicating with outside services, to successfully transitioning our students to high school and preparing for life after high school.

Students can come by anytime to see me; teachers can also make a referral (Link on the website) or simply drop in if I'm available. Parents and guardians, please feel free to call or email if you have any questions, concerns, or would like to set up a time to meet to discuss your student. I look forward to working with all of our students and their families!
